Southend LuminoCity 2023 welcomes headline sponsor!

Southend LuminoCity 2023 just got a whole lot bigger and brighter now that Essex Sound & Light Ltd (ESL) have been confirmed as the headline sponsor when the iconic light festival returns from 16th-18th February 2023.

ESL are an award winning supplier, installer and integrator of professional audio, visual & lighting equipment, who will be creating two bespoke light installations that will be unique to Southend LuminoCity. Royal Walk will see lighting columns outside the Royals Shopping Centre paint a swirling pattern of colour across the pavement, and Brilliance will provide a kaleidoscope of colour underneath the High Street railway bridge. These two, custom-made installations will not only showcase the incredible talent from this local business it will take the festivals total up to thirteen awe-inspiring installations.

Another aspect of ESL’s involvement will be LumiJam, where some of the street art from Southend City Jam illuminated with dazzling lighting displays, adding another dimension to the incredible artworks that have been left as a legacy of the festival back in September.

ESL Director, Mike Glover said:
We’re a local business established in 2001 and have been wanting to get involved with the community for a long time. With our extensive knowledge of lighting and lighting design this enables us to give something back to our community. We knew that Southend LuminoCity would be the perfect event to not only showcase what we can do, but contribute something worthwhile to the city of Southend.

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture, tourism and planning, said:

It’s fantastic that Essex Sound and Light Ltd have joined the festival as a headline sponsor, which has enabled us to bring two more installations to the festival. The event attracted over 200,000 visitors last year, and we expect that with the incredible new additions this year will be more popular than ever.
The return of LuminoCity bears witness to the enthusiasm of residents and visitors for Southend as a place to enjoy themselves and the artistic combination of light and art adds to our cultural offer. Let's shine a light on Southend – why? Because it’s worth it!

Further information regarding the event, including full details of all the installations, will be released soon.
